2023-2024 Culture & Heritage Internships

We are looking for enthusiastic tribal youth who want to make a positive difference in our tribal community, while developing skills and gaining experience supporting tribal programming. We currently have two positions available for youth currently junior-senior level of high school, and two positions for young adults 18-21 at time of application, who are seeking completion of a high school diploma or GED certificate.

 

The successful candidates offered a 2023-2024 internship position will serve our tribal community, learn the Northern Paiute language, assist in organizing and implementing field trips and events. Additional duties include providing community support to tribal Elders and tribal staff as assigned. Interns will gain valuable work experience, be supported in successful advancement of personal educational goals, and achieve stronger understandings of traditional Neme culture.

 

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  1. High School Internship Positions (2)
  • Be a high school junior or senior.
  • Be a member of the Burns Paiute Tribe community (Burns Paiute tribal member, descendant, or have cultural or economic ties to the Tribe).
  • Be willing to demonstrate traditional cultural competency or willingness to achieve greater traditional cultural competency.
  • Be able to pass requirements for employment with the Burns Paiute Tribe.
  1. Young Adult Internship Positions (2)
  • Be a young adult between the ages of 18 and 21 at time of application.
  • Be a member of the Burns Paiute Tribe community (Burns Paiute tribal member, descendant, or have cultural or economic ties to the Tribe).
  • Be willing to demonstrate traditional cultural competency or willingness to achieve greater traditional cultural competency.
  • Be able to pass requirements for employment with the Burns Paiute Tribe.

Preference will be given to applicants with documentable past service to our tribal community, and past participation in culture & heritage, traditional culture, and language events and efforts.

 

Application

Only complete applications will be considered. An application must contain at a minimum:

  • A completed Burns Paiute Tribe Employment Application
  • A letter of interest dated and signed, with your address and contact details
  • A statement of personal goals and aspirations
  • One or more letters of recommendation from school faculty and/or tribal staff, Elders, leadership

 

First consideration will be given to complete applications received by close of business November 15th, 2023.
