POSITION SUMMARY

The System Administrator will be responsible for maintaining the smooth operation of the IT Department and all systems, to include but not limited to servers, switches, routers, microwaves, towers, desktop PC’s, laptops, cell phones, radio communications, camera and security systems.

 

 

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure the computer systems are functioning and meeting the organizational needs of the tribe.
  • Setup and maintenance of network equipment, including servers, routers, switches, towers, microwaves.
  • Setup and maintenance of backup systems on site, and on the cloud
  • Installation and upgrading of IT software.
  • Installation and upgrading of IT hardware.
  • Create and implement policies and procedures for the IT department and end users.
  • Create and implement training for IT staff and end users.
  • Research upgrades, changes and new horizons in IT systems.
  • Prepare documentation and reports monthly on IT operations.
  • Prepare budget proposal for any IT upgrades or changes.
  • Prepare end of year report for General Council and Finance
  • Meet with other departments to assess their IT needs.
  • Work with outside vendors for the maintenance of contracts and licenses.
  • Overview and delegate duties to other staff within the IT department.
  • Implement and maintain Active Directory environment / install and set up Microsoft Server environments/ DHCP/ DNS/ File sharing and other needed services.
  • Work flexible schedule/on-call as needed

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Microsoft 365 proficiency, certifications preferred.
  • LAN and WAN experience, 3 to 5 years preferred, certifications a plus.
  • Customer service with Help Desk experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft products including server software.
  • Knowledge in Backup Exec/Symantec/Unifi and other software.
  • Proficient with backup policies and backup devices.
  • Proficient with Microsoft server systems.
  • Proficient with Network protocols and TCP/IP infrastructure
  • Proficient in programming and maintaining a wide range of switches and routers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems or computer science preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license

 

 

OTHER DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Voc Training in Computer Science
  • Microsoft Certification in Server, older MCSA or MCSE
  • A+ or Net+ Certification
