Hi All – my name is Steve Genovese. I grew up in Connecticut and called Portland, Maine home for nearly a decade. I moved to Burns in 2024 to work on a Department of Energy contract helping Burns Paiute implement the Strategic Energy Plan that was adopted in 2023. I couldn’t be more excited to move into the Planning & Economic Development Director role to continue that work developing a renewable energy portfolio, and to expand our business development and financial self-sufficiency as a community.
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration/Accounting from Western New England College, a Master’s Certificate in Sustainable Agricultural/Environmental Planning and Policy, and a Master’s Degree in Energy and Environmental Management and Energy Regulatory Policy (all) from the University of Connecticut. I am most thankful that after spending the past four years in the classroom, I can finally focus on work outside of it!
I’ve been really privileged to have lived all over the planet, serving in both Peace Corps and Americorps roles, and have experience working at the community, municipal, state, and federal levels. I am excited to bring my experience in community outreach and engagement, planning, and especially project management to our community.
When I’m not behind a computer screen, I try to spend as much time as I can outside, getting lost in the wildlife refuge or north of town in the National Forest. You will see me walking around town – it’s my preferred method of transportation!
