Yolanda Marks

My name is Yolanda Marks (Snapp), and I’m thankful to serve as the Tobacco Prevention Assistant.

Currently, I’m pursuing an education degree at Portland Community College, focusing on special education for elementary-aged students. I have a deep passion for advocating for youth and families, and I love to be involved within initiatives that support and uplift our tribe. I’ve had the privilege of working with Indigenous youth in Portland Public Schools, gaining valuable insight into the needs and strengths of BIPOC communities. I’m eager to bring this knowledge to my role in order to better serve and empower our community, no matter what walk of life we come from.

As a mother of two young children, ages 4 and 6, I’m dedicated to raising them with a strong identity and to embrace the mix of culture and country they now reside in. I strive to be a positive role model for our youth, always looking for ways to connect with them and offer guidance. Between my work, studies, and parenting, I’m also working on launching my own small business—all while enjoying my iced coffee!
