The Burns Paiute Tribe has a community and economic development strategic plan that identifies our strategic priorities to improve economic viability through entrepreneurship. The ‘Small Business Outreach Coordinator/Office Support Staff’ will focus on outreach to small/micro-business startups owned by Tribal members and additionally, responsible for general department support duties. This self-­driven individual will provide resources, education and referrals to clients looking to build a small business. The successful candidate will work closely with Department Director to develop strategic initiatives to achieve grant objectives to support small/micro tribal businesses in need of technical assistance. The success of the Tribes overall economy requires aggressive initiative, creativity, and the ability to develop Tribal owned small/micro businesses.



1. Develop and lead outreach and recruitment strategies and efforts to locally tribal owned small/micro entrepreneurs in need of technical assistance.
2. Plan and create all outreach flyers, Facebook posts, newsletter articles to promote the program.
3. Is the point of contact and funnels clients into the program through that initial contact and connect them to available resources.
4. Lead event coordinator for upcoming outreach events for the program.
5. Maintain a central computerized filing/data base system on client services provided to
small/micro entrepreneurs.
6. Assists in the evaluation of the program by working with clients and completing community surveys.
7. May provide advice or assist clients in preparing reports and business plans.
8. Work cooperatively with Tribal staff, other departments, local agencies and other community partners.
9. Input client data into tracking systems, in preparation for quarterly and annual written reports as required by grant funding agencies.
10. The ‘Office Support Staff’ portion, of the job, will be responsible for a wide range of task to include, but not limited to: submitting and tracking check requests/purchase orders, creating and updating department calendar, updating files, maintaining documents and performing general office duties and errands.
11. Other duties as assigned.


  •  Possess a High School Diploma or Equivalent



  • • Knowledge of economic and small business development, accounting, record keeping and other approaches to small/micro businesses.
    • Skilled in establishing good public relations and using strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work cooperatively with other Tribal staff and other organizations.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, orally, as well as written, to provide clear and precise correspondence, reports, instructions, etc.
    • Word processing proficiency to include Outlook, Canva and Excel.


Indian preference will be given to candidates showing proof of enrollment in a federally recognized tribe. Successful Candidate must:

  • Be insurable to operate tribal vehicles (3-year clean driving record)
