Position Summary: The Family Nurse Practitioner is an integral part the Burns Paiute Tribe health program with primary emphasis in providing direct health care, prevention education, and maintaining quality health standards for the tribal community in a rural setting. The Family Nurse Practitioner will work primarily with the Native American population.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide comprehensive primary health care
Analyze and interpret patient histories, symptoms, physical findings, or diagnostic information to develop appropriate diagnoses.
Order developmental and laboratory tests as necessary to assure an accurate diagnosis
Interpret test results between normal and abnormal findings
Prescribe and manage medications to treat specific illnesses
Instruct patient and families regarding the treatment plan and any follow up needed.
Perform minor outpatient procedures as needed
Coordinate patient care with other providers and agencies as necessary
Make referrals to the tribal mental health and alcohol drug program if needed
Maintain strict confidentiality of all records and information pertinent to the nature of the work

Required Qualifications:

Must be a certified Family Nurse Practitioner with an unencumbered license with the State of Oregon
Must have prescriptive authority
Able to work independently

Desired Qualifications

Experience and ability to work well with diverse groups of people from varying age groups and socioeconomic backgrounds, sometimes in stressful situations, in a manner that displays professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and good judgment.

Indian Preference:

Indian preference will be given to candidates showing proof of enrollment in a federally recognized tribe.   In the absence of qualified Indian applicants meeting the qualifications listed above, all applicants not entitled to or who fail to claim Indian Preference, will receive consideration without regard to race, color, sex, political preferences, age, religion or national origin.

Agree to and pass a criminal background check
