Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities are to provide culturally appropriate Alcohol and Drug Out-Patient services to Burns Paiute Tribal members, their families and other Native Americans in our service area.  These activities could include crisis intervention, individual and group therapy, anger management, grief and loss, trauma debrief, depression and other co-occurring disorders.  Position requires performance of administrative duties to maintain State Licensure and Certifications for Out-Patient Treatment services, complete and regular data entry of reports, and to monitor, coordinate and implement care and services as designated by Tribal, State, and Federal guidelines.

Duties:

  • Recognize and provide a referral for co-occurring disorders, when and as needed
  • Conduct client intake/evaluation interviews to assist individuals in gaining insights relative to their abuse and/or addictions
  • Collect client information through proper interviewing techniques, the use of case history information and observation techniques
  • Compiles and produces statistical reports
  • Maintain the programs state certification by completing audits and all necessary requirements as set by the State in accordance with Oregon Administrative Rules
  • Evaluate relevant client information and assist clients in formulating appropriate treatment goals and plans. Screen clients utilizing the ASAM criteria for treatment placement; and make appropriate referrals to the indicated level of care
  • Provide therapeutic interventions and on going counseling services as indicated by the assessment and evaluation results. Provide extended care, including aftercare, to client and families indicating need for such support
  • Provide community outreach activities/alcohol and drug training.
  • Provide comprehensive case management services to clients and their families that include holistic treatment planning, linking to appropriate resources and resources building for clients and families in need of this support
  • Maintain appropriate and timely clients records, daily logs, case load data, and provide required program reporting functions
  • Conduct group counseling sessions, and provide support to ongoing self-help support meetings held at the reservation
  • Assist Tribal Education, Social Service/Human Services, Health, and Law Enforcement to assure quality client care and accountability;, and develop a positive team work environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned or as are consistent with providing professional substance abuse services

Qualifications:

  • Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor II (CADC-II), or ability to obtain CADC-II Certification within six (6) months of hire.
  • Bachelors Degree along with Experience in Native American Communities preferred.
  • Must be familiar with Historic Trauma and Cultural Disenfranchisement issues in Native Communities.
  • Preference will be given to Native American matching required credentials
  • General knowledge of computer hardware and software
  • Outgoing personality, and strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to confidentiality
  • This position at the Burns Paiute Tribe will require 2+ years’ continuous sobriety, if recovering
  • Able to work with a diverse group of individuals
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and commitment to keeping a schedule
  • Must posses a valid Oregon Drivers License
  • Must submit to and pass a drug test
